ThermiSmooth 250

By Dr. Joseph Berenholz

Thermismooth250™ is an FDA-approved non-invasive skin tightening and smoothing procedure that uses targeted radio frequency energy to stimulate the skin’s natural collagen. Heat is delivered at a controlled temperature deep beneath the skin. The heat and energy induces cell death of fat cells and promotes the production of collagen to tighten and smooth the treated area. It effectively reduces the appearance of wrinkles, treats cellulite, and removes fat from stubborn areas.

What to Expect During Treatment
During the treatment you should feel warmth and heat similar to that of a heating pad. It is a tolerable treatment that can provide excellent results without the use of an anesthetic. As the energy is delivered you might experience mild discomfort for a limited period of time. Most patients find it quite tolerable and do not require any pain medication or anesthetic.

What to Expect After Treatment
Possible side effects of the Thermismooth250™ treatment are usually treatment-site related and include mild discomfort during the procedure localized within the treatment area. Mild swelling and redness may occur which typically goes away within 2-24 hours. We recommend protecting the treated area from sun exposure with sunscreen to minimize the chances of hyperpigmentation and moisturizing the treated area for one week post-treatment.

What areas can be treated and how many treatments are required?
Thermismooth250™ can treat both smaller and larger areas of the body such as the periorbital area (eyes), chin/neck/ jowl area, abdomen, arms, inner and outer thighs. We recommend 4 treatments spaced at 2-3 week intervals to see optimum results. The treated areas may benefit from an occasional treatment to maintain results.

Is everyone a candidate for Thermismooth250™?
The Thermismooth250™ may present a hazard to patients with implantable devices, such as but not limited to pacemakers, imbedded defibrillators, and Cochlear ear implants. The treatment is unstudied and unknown for pregnant patients, patients with autoimmune diseases, diabetes, or herpes simplex. It is important to consult with your physician prior to being treated with radiofrequency equipment.

Can Thermismooth250™ be used in areas of the face that have been treated with facial injectables or facial peels?
Yes, Thermismooth250™ can be used with patients who have had facial injections, however for those patients who are interested in having the treatment the same day as a facial injectable, we recommend having the Termismooth250™ treatment BEFORE any facial injectable.
